Thanks Grandma & Grandpa

Grandma & Grandpa, I just wanted to thank you so much for coming and spending sometime with me and Mommy while Daddy was away. Thank you for holding me all day and spoiling me rotten! It allowed me to spend some much needed quality time with my momma-ALL night. I can't wait for you to come back! I know Mommy can't wait either, it was such a big help having you with her.
FYI-Momma made me sleep in my very own bed for 3 whole hours today! She's so mean...please come back!
Love,
Luke

Bath time!

Luke finally enjoyed taking his bath tonight! It was a much better experience than the previous bath. It was nice to have Alex there to help get him squeaky clean.

I am sooooo good looking

Since Luke was so alert this afternoon we decided to bust out a new toy! He really enjoyed staring at himself in the mirror. He could have cared less about all the brightly colored dangling toys and blaring Mozart. I made him touch the giraffe- which is when the fun stopped and the meltdown started. Sorry baby, Momma's learning.

Momma said there'd be days like this

So today was my first day alone with Luke-it went as well as I expected. There was screaming, there was crying, and Luke was upset as well. It was not the "Susie Homemaker" day I was imagining. There was no mid-morning nap, followed by a hot cup of coffee while watching soap operas and eating bon-bons. There was no hot, relaxing shower, or make-up, or hair product (I KNOW!!). Luke was not enjoying his day either. For him, there was no mid morning nap, or afternoon nap for that matter. Instead, there was constipation, and a warm bath (which he did not enjoy as I had hoped), there was a rectal temperature, and eventually, a suppository. This is the point where his resentment of me starts, I'm sure. However, after the suppository, and 3 dirty diapers, we both felt better and had a wonderful night of sleep...after all, tomorrow is another day.

More visitors

Grandma Barb & Grandpa Paul came today to meet Luke, and bring us lots of yummy food!.. There was a lot of snuggling going on that day. We took our first outing to Home Depot and the Grass Pad to buy trees. Per usual, Luke slept through the entire trip. Yet another exciting day in the life of L.L.

Home sweet home

We brought Luke home today! Our stay at the hospital was fabulous and it reminds me of what a great group of ladies I have the pleasure of working with. Being on the "mother side" gave me a whole new perspective of what I do and how important the support and encouragement we give to a new mother is. Thanks for all the hugs ladies!

As great as it all was, we were all eager to get home and settled in to our new life. Grandma Susie and Grandpa Earl followed us home to help us get things together. We assembled all that baby equipment we had been putting off, seeing as we had a few more weeks until he arrived. I guess that is Luke's way of telling us he's in charge now.

Luke's here!

Luke Landis made an unexpected appearance on October 8th at 9:36 a.m. A few weeks early, not that I'm complaining, he's healthy and happy. He weighed in at 7lbs 5.2 oz and 18 inches long. He was not the big boy we were expecting, but it was a pleasant surprise to have a small, snugly baby boy.
