Piggy Flu

One would think I would get the Swine Flu the way I keep kissin' on these piggies!
They are just too delicious! I am willing to take this risk...

OMG!

Can you believe that this adorable couple......who had this man at their Las Vegas wedding...

...is responsible for this adorable baby!
We can't either! The magnitude of this hit us the other night. My parents were up over the weekend so Alex and I had a date. We had a great dinner and then decided to grab a coffee at Starbucks before heading home. Being the fairly newlywed couple we are were, we used to make little kissy noises to each other. Our little "Hey baby, I love you". While sipping our lattes at Starbucks, instead of a kissy noise, Alex made a zerbit noise at me. Without thought, I returned the zerbit. At what point did we stop being a lovey couple and become parents?! We discussed this matter for a few minutes. We also mulled over the panic of knowing someday Luke will utter the words "Mom" & "Dad" in reference to us. OMG! And then once again almost unconsciously, Alex made the zerbit noise. We decided it was best to just go home and play with our baby.
We need to get out more.

Phabulous Photos

Here are just a few random shots from this past week.

Luke got some new toys. He loves them! Momma loves the "on/off" switch!
(those are our new couches in the background!)

Luke and Alex were trying to take a nap on the couch. Neither were very successful.

This is a new trick this goofy boy does...while drinking his bottle! He takes breaks to hang upside for a few seconds, then resumes eating. Such a special boy!

I don't know what is going on in his little mind here, but man, it can't be good!

Go Ahead, Laugh. Everyone else is...

I think one of my better qualities is my ability to laugh at myself. I think everyone should be able to do that! I tell Alex all the time that he just needs to accept that it's funny when he does or says something less intelligent than he should. Like when I asked him to get the diet cokes out of my trunk and he stared at me like he was confused yet trying really really hard to figure out where my trunk was. To stop his brain from spinning I clarified "the trunk of my car". Like I had a steamer trunk full of diet coke stashed somewhere in the house. I love him.

It seems I laugh at myself quite a bit. Like the time I was chasing a "lost" dog in a busy intersection while in my bathing suit only to discover it was not the dog we were looking for(We did however drive it home). Or, like the time ER called and asked if we could send down some jelly for a patient, so of course I sent down some KY jelly only to find out she wanted grape...for her toast. Embarrassing? A bit. Funny? Heck yeah! My fault? Nope. I'm sorry, you call the labor and delivery floor and ask for jelly, that's what you're getting! You want grape, call the cafeteria. Or that time at the Court House where I had to take my sandals off because they kept setting off the metal detector. Now, these were my favorite black sandals, they were perfect, except for one tiny thing. They stained the top of my feet black so they looked filthy! It was hilarious!!

The most recent of these escapades happened today. I stopped at the scrap booking store before I went to get my hair cut. I put my purchases in the trunk (this is important to the story). I left the salon went to my shiny Barcelona Red Prius, pulled on the door handle...nothing. So I moved my big ole diaper bag directly in front of the door so it would recognize the key...nothing. So I start digging through bibs, and burp cloths, and pacifiers and toys. While doing this, I see there is no car seat in the back. Oh well. I can't find my keys! So I go back in the salon, they're not there. I go to the scrapbook store next to the salon, they're not there either. So I look in the trunk (not the steamer trunk) to see if I left them in there when I put my purchases in it. Nope, not there. Neither was my stroller or purchases. But does that register to me? Nope. So I continue to walk around the car trying other doors, like that would suddenly work. I begin digging again and Hoorah!! found the keys. Still couldn't get in. I was totally baffeled. And then I saw it, mocking me from inside the car. A large Taco Bell cup! I don't eat Taco Bell for 2 reasons 1. I don't eat orange meat and 2. They serve Pepsi products.
I finally look up to see about 4 cars down another shiny Barcelona Red Prius. I creep over cautiously. I see a stroller in the trunk, a car seat in the back, but what hit it home? A Sonic Diet Coke in the front. Sweet Fernando, I found you! I got in the car and laughed and laughed. I didn't have the heart to look back to see if anyone was staring at me or not. What I found most sad about this story is that not seeing the carseat or stroller wasn't enough to make me realize it wasn't my car, it was the drink! Good times.

Happy Earth Day!

I noticed it's been a week since I posted! Wow, I must be busy doing something...it certainly isn't working. It's been a bit slower than usual at work so to cut down on the budget, nurses can be "canceled" if they want. Do you know how hard it is to say "no" when someone calls you at 5:01am and says "You can stay home if you want."...and your bed is nice and warm, and your baby is still asleep...mmmm, Heaven. Usually around 11:30am it hits me-I'm not getting paid! But you know, I do have plans to clean and get my hair cut, and it was super nice to stay in bed this morning. My goal for next week is to not get canceled. I mean, seriously, I work 2 days a week.

So what have we done this past week...

Alex's parents Luke's Grandparents came to see us over the weekend. It was nice to have them and I know Luke enjoys seeing people other than his own parents all weekend. We of course did some shopping for summer shoes (the boys opted to stay in the car, go figure). We had a tasty lunch at North where apparently I committed petty theft by pocketing some Splenda packets. My granny taught me good!

And of course, Luke got some much needed play time. I feel bad, the boy gets NO attention from anyone...
I think they are comparing tans. Grandpa wins!-However, he cheated by going to Cabo...

Since today is Earth Day, and I have the day off, and it's going to be 76 degrees today, and because I drive a Prius (so it's expected of me) I will take care of my Mother Earth by pulling weeds & happy dandelions. While I love the dandelion, and do not love myriad dandelions. I think the majority of them were murdered by Alex last evening. I will have to check the carnage this morning. We did have 5 tulips bloom! I think they are telling us it's time to dig them up and replant. They look so lonely...beautiful, but lonely.

Hope everyone has wonderful weather and a wonderful day!

Bumpers!

I finally found a use for that bumper! I had it laying on the floor while waiting to find a place for it in Luke's NEW room (don't ask!). He was playing & being adorable as usual, so I got the camera (what else would one do?).

Then in his excitement, he fell over. Right on to the bumper!!

And he was okay! See?

But then he fell to the other side, where the bumper was not and did a face plant into the carpet.

But he was still okay. See?

Adorable, huh? Yeah, I know.

A Swingin' Good Time

While I was at work all weekend, the boys were out and about having fun! This was Luke's first time on a swing. He looks like he had a good time, sort of!

Flashdancer

Any guesses on who these adorable legs in these fabulous Baby Legs, that just arrived, belong to??

I am sure this expression does not reflect his true feelings about wearing his new leg warmers.
This is more like it!

Sweet Potatoes and Sippy Cups

Luke had his 6 month check up yesterday and is doing great. Apparently he's "stronger than most babies" and quite active...like we didn't know that! The doctor feels that his activity is to blame for his drop on the weight chart. He now weighs 15lbs 12oz which is the 25th percentile. He's 26 1/2 inches long, 90th percentile, and his head is still average at 50th percentile. She wasn't too concerned about his hatred of tummy time and feels he will probably just start pulling himself up and start walking, possibly skipping crawling all together...awesome. He's healthy and happy- minus the shots, of course.

After the appointment, we went upstairs to see my co-workers as they get mad when I don't bring him by. He flirted with everyone. Every time a new person walked by, he put his arms up for them to hold him, and of course they obliged. Such good honorary Aunties! After all that spoiling he fell asleep as soon as I buckled him in his seat.

We came home and enjoyed sweet potatoes (his new favorite, and mine too I must admit) and we had our first attempt with a sippy cup. After examining it closely....

...all sides of it...
...playing with the handles...
...talking, er, screaming at it...
...he finally got it into his mouth.
He was not impressed.

6 months

Happy Half Birthday

I can't believe you are already 6 months old! For goodness sake, that's half a year!

You are becoming so much fun and your personality is really starting to show! You smile so much it should hurt. You giggle. You belly laugh. You jump. You sit. You put EVERYTHING in your mouth. You love to snuggle. You are a momma's boy. You know dad is more fun. You don't like to be left alone anymore. You don't like being startled. You don't like waiting for food. You LOVE to eat-especially green beans. You have little tantrums when you are hungry or uber-tired. You sing a lot. You have lengthy discussions with anyone that will listen, usually your Neptune Turtle. You are a super baby, and we love you oodles.

And now, on to the next half!

Filled to the brim

I am so madly in love with this boy, my heart could burst.
Grandpa & Grandpa G. came to spend a couple days with Luke & me while Alex was out of town. Per usual, Luke had a good time snuggling, smiling, and talking to them. Of course we did some shopping and eating as well.
Thanks for coming to keep me company!!

This is how Luke fell asleep the other day. One minute playing on the floor, the next, lovey on his head, giraffe by his side, lovin' on Jiminy Cricket. Oh, and lets not forget the pacifier.
Luke's first time in a "big boy" seat at lunch. He was very busy people watching and flirting with some little twin girls at the next table. Lady killer.

Luke was so excited to get his daddy home. We met up with Grandma & Grandpa G at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Luke was a bit over stimulated at that place! He spent a lot of time singing to the ceiling fans, the Christmas lights, the waitresses, the people walking by. Thank goodness the restaurant is loud or we may have had to leave. Luke was noisy-happy, but noisy!!

Giggles McGee

Luke has this chiming duck that dangles from his gym that is apparently Ha-larious!

I adore this giggly boy!

Hello, dear friend. I have missed you more than you know...

Luke had a horrid night on Tuesday. Dr. Ferber was not my friend that night. There were tears and screams off and on from 11:45pm to 4:30am. At 4:31am, Luke got his pacifier back and momma got an hour of sleep before going to work.

My day at work started off with "Wow, you look like crap". Thank you... friend? After explaining my "crappiness" I was bombarded with scoldings for tampering with a baby that actually sleeps. So after questioning just about all of my co-workers, friends, and every family practice doctor or pediatrician that crossed my path, it was decided that Luke should get his binky back, and I should get some sleep. Thank you....

Sorry Screams McGee for torturing you for no apparent reason.
